Tabular Editor 3 for Power BI & SQL Server Analysis Services
Description
In this course you will learn how to use the best external tool for Power BI, SQL Server Analysis Services.
Learning TE3 is an important skill as it allows you to develop models efficiently, make changes to a live database without the PBIX or Visual Studio project
You can write DAX Queries to investigate data, you can create objects such as Measure, Columns, and Tables with a single commit, without waiting for Power BI Desktop to update and process the changes one by one which in turn reduces the development time.
You can automate the processes by writing C# Scripts that allow you to iterate the objects in Tabular Object Model and perform certain actions.
You can use TE3 to create Calculation Groups which reduces the number of measures or variations of measure(s) that you have to create and provide a seamless experience, using TE3 you can script all the Calculation Groups and use that script to deploy Calculation Groups to a completely different data model.
TE3 allows you to write your own Best Practices using LINQ so that you can evaluate the models in your organization against those best practices and identify the objects that break the rules
You can execute process commands on Tabular objects such as Tables & Partitions on individual basis, you can modify Incremental Refresh Policies in Power BI Service and then process partitions there.
This just the tip of the iceberg and there is a lot more that you can do with TE3 it is an absolute beast in terms of saving development efforts!
