John Robert Joe Cocker was an English singer known for his rough, bluesy voice and dynamic stage performances, characterized by expressive body movements. He began singing in Sheffield pubs under the pseudonym Vance Arnold, performing covers of Chuck Berry and Ray Charles songs. He rose to fame with his reworking of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends," which he performed at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 with energetic hand gestures and raspy vocals. John has recorded 43 studio albums and collaborated with musicians such as Jimmy Page, Leon Russell, Billy Preston, Jennifer Warnes, and Carlos Santana. He won an Academy Award and a Grammy Award for his duet with Jennifer Warnes, "Up Where We Belong," which appeared on the soundtrack to the film "An Officer and a Gentleman." Joe Cocker was also awarded an OBE for his services to music and performed at the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Concert in 2002
