Opening e4 course by GM Jan Gustafsson
Includes video and PGN
Language: English
Lectures: 30
Total Running Time: 20 hours 26 minutes
From the course:
Destroy your opponents with a world-class theoretician’s repertoire
Almost 5 years after his first Chessable course, the funniest German in chess returns with a complete opening repertoire for the white pieces: Gustafsson’s Aggressive 1.e4.
GM Gustafsson is one of the most sought-after seconds in the world and his opening preparation has been used by Magnus Carlsen in several of his World Championship matches. More recently, he has worked for Anish Giri and is the current trainer of the German national team.
He is ably assisted in this course by CM Vjekoslav Nemec, who has published several Chessable courses and is a respected author in his own right. Regularly writing valuable chess advice on his popular blog, CM Nemec's explanations are second to none!
Part 1 of this hard-hitting repertoire covers everything you need to destroy 1… e5, along with weapons against the Scandinavian, Alekhine’s Defense, the Pirc & Modern and other sidelines.
Your main weapon will be in the Italian Game. Gustafsson and Nemec will show you how to deploy the aggressive Dubov Italian, which leads to very complex and exciting positions.
Against 3...Nf6, you'll be playing 4.Ng5 and going for crazy, complicated variation with 8.Qf3!? where you'll grab some material and challenge Black to prove compensation.
You'll challenge the dreaded Petroff Defense like Magnus Carlsen did in his 2021 World Championship match, welcoming wild, unbalanced positions.
Packed full of Gustafsson’s trademark opening wisdom, you can trust a World Championship second to create a repertoire that is sound and playable but that will give you great chances to win.
And when coupled with Nemec's thorough and detailed explanations, Gustafsson's high-level analysis is understandable and approachable for everyone. The pair went above and beyond to make the memorization task as easy as possible. Thus in this course, you will find:
????An introduction to each new variation, making sure you have a solid foundation to build on
????Concrete knowledge from one of the world’s great theoreticians
????35 Model Games that come with accompanying exercises so that you can play through the games yourself and see real-world examples of these lines
???? A special chapter on tactical exercises and memory markers to help you remember the key points and ideas
